Power of sacred city

Most visit the sacred city with the intention of watching the great feats of architecture the ancient sinhalese carried out almost 2000 years ago. But there are others who come feel something else.Many have experienced power and energy still very much in existence within the sacred city. Also these may not be proved in the "traditional" sense of Scientific method, still, all experiences may not be able to be expressed by Science using current technology.

("Current" is the key word here. A classic case where, ancient wisdom outplayed Science is the following. Ancient paintings of the Buddha and Arahats show an Aura surrounding their heads. Many believed that this is not scientifically possible until people invented Kirillian Cameras and were able to Scientifically photograph everyone's Aura on prompt !. The lesson to learn by all this is that simply because Science has not developed technology to analyze certain phenomena does not mean that the phenomena is not true !. Have an open mind )

Here are some observations and incidents which may cause the curious reader to think twice!.

(a) There have been many sightings of strange lights crisscrossing the area consisting of Ruwanweliseya, Mirisawetiya and the Sri Maha Bodhi which couldn't be explained

(b) There have been sightings of an Aura surrounding the Ruwanweliseya Dagaba many times.

(It is reported that somewhere in the nineteen twenties in the presence of many people watching, including reporters, the Ruwanweliseya has displayed an aura and it was reported in the newspapers. The writer is currently trying to locate the newspaper article)

An Aura appeared above the Somawathie Dagaba on 23rd April 2006 and it was photographed by none other than Mr Jayawickrama Perera , who is a well known political figure in Sri Lanka)

These Auras have been seen many times in Ruwanweliseya and Somawathie but this is the first time they have been photographed !

Why do these Auras appear?

Most believe that the secret lies in the fact that these two Dagabas contain some of the most significant sacred relics of the Buddha.

(c) It is rumored that whenever the country is in danger, signs come up at Sri Maha Bodhi. It is too much of a coincidence that a week before the Tsunami, the wall surrounding the Sri Maha Bodhi had come down. The priests at Sri Maha Bodhi had known something was going to happen but never expected a Tsunami ! ,instead has expected a LTTE attack !
